Smartphones might be the best choice for shooting family videos, but when it comes to capturing sportfishing and other outdoor adventures, it’s best to stow that fragile phone and instead go for a JVC weatherproof camcorder that’s waterproof, shock proof, freeze proof and dust proof.

JVC offers a full line of rugged, all-weather camcorders, including conventional full-featured models and a wearable point-of-view cam. The company’s new Everio camcorders feature JVC’s “Quad-Proof” structure – waterproof to a depth of 5 meters/16.4 feet, the ability to withstand a drop from 1.5 meters/4.9 feet, freeze-proof down to –10˚C/14˚F and dust proof – packaged in a familiar camcorder form factor. Rounding out their all-weather versatility, they float. And for extending outings on the water, the internal battery can provide 4.5 hours of recording.

The new Everio line’s Quad-Poof technologies were first offered in JVC’s Adixxion action camera, designed for shooting point-of-view action video. The Adixxion GC-XA2 offers the same weather-protection specs, but it can withstand a drop from 2 meters/6.5 feet. It features a built-in LCD monitor and Wi-Fi for streaming video to a smartphone, uploading to YouTube and still image transfer…
